About the job

The Indirect Tax Specialist prepares indirect tax returns. Returns are filed in state and local tax jurisdictions through the United States for multiple companies. Maintains compliance with all indirect taxes. Travel is not required. This position has no personnel management responsibilities and reports to the tax manager and SVP Finance & CAO. The normal shift is 40 hours per week in the office, with periodic extended hours, as needed. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and file Other Tobacco Products taxes for all entities monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually.
  • Maintain state licenses for Other Tobacco
  • Stay up to date on changes in sales, use, OTP and nicotine taxes.
  • Work with third party advisors to ensure compliance in all indirect tax areas.
  • Address notices from tax authorities for property, sales, and excise taxes.
  • Manage any indirect tax audits.
  • Oversee excise tax refund process.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation for all processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university
  • 1-5 years of experience in indirect tax compliance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefer a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Experience with Oracle cloud.
