About the job

The Total Rewards Leader is responsible for overseeing payroll processing and assisting in the development, administration, and analysis of a competitive, fair, and equitable total rewards program that aligns with Turning Point Brands culture and values and is compliant with legal requirements. This position has one direct report. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and approve final bi-weekly and bonus payroll processing.
  • Led payroll tax compliance activities, including withholding, filings, reconciliations, and resolution of tax notices across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
  • Conduct ongoing research into emerging trends, issues and best practices related to compensation, leaves of absence and benefits as well as job requirements and structural relationships.
  • Support administration and management of all leave of absences, including workers compensation.
  • Support administration and management of employee benefits programs, including health and related coverages, wellness programs and retirement plans.
  • Serve as point of contact for leaves of absence and benefits matters and respond to employee inquiries.
  • Manage accommodation requests and follow up accordingly. Work with the HR Business Partner team to determine modified duty assignments and ability to comply with accommodation requests.
  • Manage end-to-end administration of equity compensation programs, including grant processing, vesting events, terminations, and system reconciliations with payroll and finance.
  • Ensured accurate taxation and payroll processing of equity income and other complex compensation elements, partnering closely with Payroll, Tax, Finance, and third-party vendors.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for equity operations and payroll tax matters, providing guidance to HR and Payroll teams and supporting audits and close processes.
  • Oversee reconciliation and preparation of all total rewards invoicing to ensure accurate and timely payment.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for all total rewards processes.
  • Update HRIS for all employee changes, new hires, and terminations.
  • Participate with HR team members in departmental projects and initiatives aimed at improving total rewards offerings to employees.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business or related field; however, will substitute 5-7 years relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience related to employee benefits program design and administration
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws (e.g., ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, ACA)
  • Adept at use of HRIS systems and associated reporting tools
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent customer service and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Superior communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently with a high amount of personal accountability in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects
  • Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now
